General Information About Sigiriya

Sigiriya is an ancient city, a rock fortress and a place located in Matale district. The history of Sigiriya dates back to the 3^rd century BCE. The distance from Colombo is 169km. This ruin is surrounded by gardens, ponds, fountains and other structures. Sirgirya is included as a World Heritage Site. It also renowned for its ancient paintings (frescoes) which exhibit unique Sri Lankan style.
